The streets come alive under the full moon
Every year during at Mid-Autumn Festive Street Bazaar, over 300 festive stalls pop up in Chinatown, display a dazzling array of festive goodies such as mooncakes and pomelos, brightly coloured lanterns and festive souvenirs.
Browse the stalls for a wide variety of mooncakes, the festive delicacy. Traditionally filled with lotus seed paste and stuffed with a salted duck egg yolk, today’s innovative creations come in an array of fillings and flavours. Numerous stalls also display an essential food of the festival, pomelos — a fruit that ripens in autumn. The sweet honey taste of the pomelo complements the rich flavor of mooncakes and its auspicious name also sounds like the word "blessing” in Chinese.
Besides festive treats, the street stalls also brim with thousands of lanterns, from traditional paper-made to modern battery-operated designs. An important occasion celebrated by Chinese communities worldwide, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time to celebrate the full-moon – an auspicious symbol of abundance, harmony and prosperity.
